本教材拟和正在开设的《职场交际英语》课程配套使用。本教材主要面向非英语专业研究生或英语专业高年级本科生;也可供已经进入职场或即将进入职场的人士作为提高职场英语语言交际能力的参考书使用。编写并拟出版该教材的动因是因为经调研后,发现目前相关教材多以职场中所需掌握的英语的听说读写技能训练为主,而且各项技能相互割裂,没有成体系。现对部分可以使用教材简单分析如下:
目前,同该教材相类似的教材有商务印书馆引进的《柯林斯商务英语》系列包括口语、写作等;外语教学与研究出版社出版的《高级职场英语写作教程》和朗文出版社的原版教材English for work, Everyday English。上述教材与本教材的主要区别在于:
1. 目前教材仅是对商务/职场中所需的单项英语技能的训练:如《柯林斯商务英语》系列和《高级职场英语写作教程》只是对单项英语技能进行强化,缺乏系统性,内容不完整。
2. 仅是对英语语言技能的强化,缺乏专业性:比如英文原版教材English for work, Everyday English仅是结合商务场景为学习者提供和梳理相关英语语言表达,进行比较简单的语言技能强化。
3. 教材多为英文原版教材,没有考虑中国特定语言文化的因素,部分内容不符合我国的国情。
综上,目前类似教材偏重对职场环境下英语语言技能的讲解,属于语言类课程教材。本教材主要服务《职场交际英语》课程建设,突出交际性,教材集“知识性”、“技能性”、“人文性”和“思政性”为一体。教材编排上以话题为主线,每个话题均包含对职场所需知识和技能、语言知识、交际策略的讲解以及练习实践,强调对学生职场基本知识和技能的掌握,在该情景下对英语语言应用能力及交际能力的培养。
