根据2020年教育部颁布的《大学英语教学指南》，大学英语的教学目标是“培养学生的英语应用能力，增强跨文化交际意识和交际能力，同时发展自主学习能力、提高综合文化素养，培养人文精神和思辨能力”。英语演讲能力正是“学生英语应用能力，跨文化交际意识和交际能力”的综合体现。《英文演讲》已成为大学英语课程体系中非常重要的课程。为了适应新时代的社会需求和教学要求，我们编写了本教材。
本书共分六章，第一章为英文演讲知识。第二至第六章为演讲范例讲解和评析。每一篇演讲讲解都包括：演讲者简介、演讲背景、金句预览、演讲原文、金句背诵、演讲点评、演讲译文、课后练习、双语学习等模块。
